Nex Clear Resin Troubles

Hello All,

I recently transitioned to the clear Nex Resin and haven’t had much luck in the way of getting a successful print yet. I’m about 500 mL into trying to get something to work and I’m really struggling to figure out the issue. I typically use the clear Peopoly model resin and have had a lot of success with it, with almost a year of no failures or major issues.

I recently updated the firmware to 1.18 and I use Asura 1.2.2 to slice and generate supports. I’m using a Peopoly PDMS vat and the stock build plate.

7/11/19 @ 12:33 I am printing a test at laser setting 55 to see if that helps something

Below are pictures of a print I let run for a few hours and it failed.

This is a print I did on firmware 1.16 and it left it at laser setting 57 on accident. The discoloration on the bottom is from whatever I set it on. It managed to bleed into the resin a little bit.

Hello Matt, Download Asura 2.2.3 and use that to slice and for supports. It is the newest version of your copy of Asura. This will help.

Now onto your settings, Change the following:

  • PM Reset Position 10

  • Z Follows 2

  • CompensateY 200

  • PM Motor Speed 10

The Peopoly Wiki has a lot of information on it. Make sure to check that out as well.

Let me know if this helps!

Wow thanks! I’ll try that and see how it goes. I got 10 hours into the print and it shifted slightly. The print looked fine otherwise.

The print went well for the first few hours. I printed it in a different orientation and now the supports failed. Any suggestions?

Can you provide a screen shot of your slice with the settings for the supports as well? Did you also make those changes to your printer settings as I stated above?

Yeah I made the changes. I also found something too… The lens over the laser was dirty. I cleaned that and it helped. I mostly had success after that but I still wasn’t getting consistent prints.
